Defenders provided bus transportation to and fro
Oakland, Berkeley, San
Francisco, San Jose, Morgan Hill, Santa Cruz, and Palo
Alto for
volunteers willing to go door to door in targeted
precincts to talk with
voters about Congressman Richard Pombo, who is known as
"One of the 13
Most Corrupt Members of Congress," and his Democrat
challenger, Jerry "Pombo's extreme anti-conservation record, including recently siding with oil companies to try to open California coasts to irresponsible offshore drilling, his consistent rubber-stamping of Bush's failed Iraq War policies, and his earned reputation as 'One of the 13 Most Corrupt Members of Congress' has galvanized unprecedented volunteer political activism to retire him in November among many who live in and around his district," said Ed Yoon, the Campaign Manager for Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund. There will be two other major Defeat Pombo Day of Action: Saturdays, October 7 and October 28. Areas being targeted for those subsequent Days of Action are to be determined. These Defeat Pombo Days of Action are
organized and funded by Defenders
of Wildlife Action Fund to essentially capture
Presidential campaign
level of volunteer organizing for this congressional
race, with the goal
of unseating Pombo in 2006 towards resulting in a more
conservation-friendly Congress.
The high level of volunteer participation highlights the
importance and
competitiveness of the 11th Congressional District race
between Pombo ### The Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund www.defendersactionfund.org provides a powerful voice in Washington to Americans who value our conservation heritage.
